Clear Correct Braces

Examination and Assessment

Braces not only make cosmetic improvements but they also properly align teeth and jaws to alleviate physical health problems. Once braces are in place, they should improve an individual’s bite and speech.

Braces can be applied to teeth for a number of reasons:

Traditional Braces vs. ClearCorrect

Traditional braces and ClearCorrect (clear tray braces) are options are for people 10 and older. Children between the ages of 7 and 14 are the best candidates for braces because their facial structures are still developing.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are a common procedure that involves the use of brackets and wire. Dr. Derksen will refer patients to a trusted orthodontist for this type of treatment.

Traditional braces are typically worn for about 2 years depending on the individual.

ClearCorrect Braces

ClearCorrect is a clear aligner option that can be completed by Dr. Derksen. ClearCorrect uses clear trays to straighten teeth. The clear trays are great options for patients who do not want the obvious traditional braces. Dr. Derksen will evaluate to determine if you are a candidate for ClearCorrect.

ClearCorrect clear aligners are typically worn 9 months to 2 years.

Post Alignment Completion

After the completion of braces or ClearCorrect retainers must be worn to maintain correction. There is mild discomfort when wearing braces since it’s forcing teeth and jaw movement. The patient should avoid sticky and hard food to reduce discomfort and protect the brackets and wires. Continue to floss and brush especially around the brackets. There are special brushes and floss made for people with braces to make brushing easier.
